Can one find a recipe for a perfect jazz concert? Having listened to the album you are now holding in your hands, I can only answer in the affirmative. All one needs is a group of musicians passionately engaged in wordless dialogue on the stage. They are virtuosi hungry for conversation, or perhaps for a debate, in which they communicate through sounds, phrases, improvisations, harmonies and forms. Even though jazz is considered as the most democratic of all forms of music-making – one in which each of the musicians will get his or her “five minutes” – the role of the leader is not to be underestimated. He is the one who selects musicians, who acts as the painter of imaginary soundscapes working on the nuances of colour and adding layer upon layer of musical paint until he arrives at a timeless image woven out of sounds. Marek Napiórkowski brought together eminent jazzmen, a kind of Polish Dream Team. Each of the musicians, while putting into practice the guitarist’s artistic vision, at the same time exerts their own unique individual impact on the final result, and contributes to the album whatever is in their hearts. Set aside the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and follow the band on a wonderful journey, as did the audience gathered at the Agnieszka Osiecka Concert Studio.
